This is a real deal California Black Plate car. It has lived in theSan Joaquin Valley (Central California) since almost new. Very dryarea, and the car reflects that; no rust in this car.

It is basically an original car, never restored, with one outsiderepaint. The only body work has been to replace the section aroundand including the left headlight bucket from parking lot damage. Theleft front was again damaged years ago from an impact with a dog,leaving the left front wheel arch, front bumper and horn grilles werevery slightly damaged but no paint damage.

The two front seats have been recovered as well as the dash cover,otherwise it is the complete original interior, carpets included! Theconvertible top cover has been replaced, headliner is still originaland I am now fitting a new German canvas top boot with correct Tenaxfasteners.

The underside of the car is completely original, very good condition,excellent door bottoms. There is a hole under the battery, caused bybattery acid.The engine appears to be the original assembly but rebuilt using anew, un-numbered 912 case. It runs very well, very friendly car to drive.

The engine was pretty wet with oil when I received the car, so Ipulled the engine, pressure washed everything and the enginecompartment. I then replaced flywheel and pulley seals, oil lines,suspect gaskets and found most of the oil was coming from a pin holein the oil breather, which we repaired. I put a new mainshaft seal inthe trans and repacked the clutch release bearing while the engine wasout.

Both rear axle seals were replaced, trans fluid changed, engineserviced and tuned. I also repacked the front wheel bearings andreplaced the seals.
